Greg McCunn , Director and CEO

Greg McCunn has over 25 years’ experience in the mining industry. On April 1, 2019 he was appointed Director and CEO of Asanko. Most recently he was CEO of Alio Gold, a junior gold mining company with operations in Mexico and Nevada. Prior to joining Alio Gold, Greg was CFO at Asanko from 2011 to 2017, during which time the Company financed the construction of the Asanko Gold Mine, executed the first phase of construction, completed commissioning and achieved commercial production. Greg was also CFO for Farallon Mining until it was sold to Nyrstar in early 2011. Mr. McCunn’s background includes technical, operational and corporate development roles with Teck Resources, Placer Dome and junior mining companies in Canada and Australia. He is a Professional Engineer and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Business Administration.

Charles Amoah , Executive General Manager, the Asanko Gold Mine

Mr Amoah is a Ghanaian national and a metallurgist with over 22 years of experience. He was promoted to General Manager, Asanko Gold Mine in early 2015, prior to this he was Manager - Processing. He has held a number of senior management positions in the Ghanaian gold mining industry, including General Manager of PMI Gold Corporation’s Obotan Project, as well as Acting General Manager and Metallurgical Manager of the Damang Mine, which is 90% owned by Goldfields. He holds a Certificate in Management Development and a Master’s degree in mineral processing.

Frederick Attakumah , EVP and Managing Director of Asanko Gold Ghana

Mr Attakumah has over twenty five years experience. During his career, Fred has held a number of senior management roles including Senior Vice President – Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Asanko Gold Ghana, Managing Director of AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana), Vice President – Sustainability of AngloGold Ashanti’s operations in Ghana and General Manager – Engineering Services, among others. His management experience spans operations, projects and sustainability. He has served as a First Vice President of the Ghana Chamber of Mines and was also a member of the Governing Council of the Private Enterprise Federation of Ghana. Fred holds an Honours Bachelor degree in Electrical and Electronic engineering as well as a Masters degree in Business Administration.

Mike Begg , Senior Vice President Technical Services

Mr Begg has over 25 years of experience in the African resources sector. He has extensive experience as a geologist in mining and exploration, having been involved in greenfields and mine site exploration. During his career he has held a number of management positions, including Chief Geologist, Technical Services Manager, General Manager and Operations Director. Mike brings extensive technical and managerial experience to Asanko Gold. He holds a BSc degree in Geochemistry and Geology and an Honours degree in Economic Geology.

Fausto Di Trapani , EVP & Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Di Trapani, a Chartered Accountant, joined Asanko in 2012 as Executive: Finance and has played a major role in the transformation of the Company’s Finance function from late stage exploration through project development and production to the multi-jurisdictional fully integrated function it is today. This has included the deployment of a group wide ERP system to improve forecasting and budgetary controls, securing the Red Kite project finance facility and leading the Company’s procurement processes to bring the Asanko Gold Mine into production on time and under budget. During his 18 year career, Fausto has held a number of senior financial management roles at significant listed resource companies including Mantra Resources, Norilsk Nickel International and BHP Billiton. He holds an Honours Bachelor of Accounting Sciences degree.

Josephat Zvaipa , EVP and Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Zvaipa has over 25 years of experience in Operations, Human Resources, Training and Development. During his career, he has been Operations Executive at Zimasco in Zimbabwe, one of Africa’s largest integrated ferrochrome producer, Head of Training and Development at the Hwange Colliery, Zimbabwe’s largest coal producer and Head of HR at LionOre Mining’s Africa division, until its acquisition by Norilsk Nickel. Most recently Joe was EVP and Managing Director of Asanko Gold Ghana.
